August 2026 — A rainy Tuesday can be the weakest day of your week. Or the day your regulars get a reason to drop by right now. With the new weather automations, loyal connects your loyalty programme to the weather forecast — fully automatically.
How it works
Every morning, loyal checks the forecast for your location’s address. You define the rule, loyal does the rest:
- Rain rule: If the chance of rain exceeds your threshold (e.g. 30%), your rain campaign launches automatically — say, “Rainy-day bonus: double stamps on all hot drinks today”.
- Sunshine rule: If the forecast promises sun and your target temperature, the summer special goes out — say, an iced-coffee discount for card holders.
Both rules can send email and wallet notification at the same time: the message lands in the inbox and right on the lock screen — with your brand name and icon as the sender. And so your customers don’t hear from you at every drizzle, you also set a minimum interval between two weather campaigns.
Why it works
Weather is the most honest trigger local marketing has. A birthday email arrives once a year — the weather changes every day and directly shapes whether people are out and what they crave. That context is the difference between an ad and a well-timed offer:
- Relevance instead of blasting: The rainy-day coupon reaches your customers at the exact moment it is useful.
- No manual work: Nobody has to remember the campaign in the morning, open the mailing list or click anything. The rule runs until you change it.
- Two channels, one setting: Email for the full story, wallet push for lock-screen visibility.
Set up in three minutes
You’ll find weather automations in the loyal portal under Marketing → Automations — right next to birthday, welcome and win-back automations. As with every new portal feature, a small explainer with a live demo describes each setting in place: pick your threshold, write your campaign text, tick the channels, activate. Done.
Weather automations are part of the wallet module — at no extra charge. See all automations at a glance on the email & weather automations page.
